Privacy policy
Coaster is an app for logging the bars, cocktail bars, coffee shops, boba and tea shops and clubs you go to. This policy explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and how to delete it. Coaster is operated by [PLACEHOLDER legal entity name], [PLACEHOLDER country/state] (“Coaster”, “we”, “us”).
The short version
- No advertising, no ad networks, and no analytics SDKs in the app.
- We don't sell your personal data, and we don't share it with third parties for their own purposes.
- We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We don't collect your device's location.
- You can delete your account, and everything in it, from inside the app.
What we collect
Your account
Your email address and a password. If you choose to sign in with an emailed code instead, we store your email address and send you a code each time.
Your profile (optional)
A display name, username, first and last name, home city, bio and avatar photo. All of these are optional.
What you create
The places you log, your ratings and rankings, ambiance sliders, drink tallies, notes, photos, and Loose Lips posts. We also store who you follow, who you block, and any reports you file.
What we don't collect
- Device location. Our catalog stores the city and neighborhood of each place. We never read where your phone is.
- Advertising or analytics data. Coaster contains no advertising, no ad networks and no analytics SDKs, and we don't track you across other apps or sites.
How we use it
Only to run Coaster: to create your account and sign you in, work out your rankings and scores, show your sessions to the people who follow you, build your feed, send you sign-in codes and confirmations, and handle reports and blocks.
Photos
We only receive the photos you choose to attach. They're stored under your account, and we keep resized copies for display in the app.
Who can see what
- Your rankings are private by default.
- Your visits and ratings are visible to people who follow you.
- Your profile and lists can be viewed by any signed-in Coaster member.
- Loose Lips posts are visible only to mutual followers (people who follow each other both ways), and are deleted automatically 24 hours after posting.
Service providers
We use two companies to run Coaster. They process data on our behalf, only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase hosts our database (Postgres) and file storage, where your account, content and photos are kept.
- Resend sends our emails, such as sign-in codes and confirmations, from our own domain.
We don't sell your personal data, and we don't share it with anyone else for their own purposes.
Reporting and blocking
You can report content and block other members. Blocking removes each other's content from your feeds. We review the reports we receive.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account from inside the app: go to Profile → Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, rankings, visits, photos and posts. You can also email [email protected] and ask us to delete it for you.
Loose Lips posts don't wait for that: each one is deleted automatically 24 hours after it's posted.
Age
Coaster is intended for people aged 17 and older, and it isn't directed at children. If you believe someone younger is using Coaster, please email us.

Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version on this page and update the effective date at the top. If a change affects how your data is used, we'll also let you know in the app before it takes effect.
